Some of my personal tips for you to get through high school.
Supplies
- Buy a 2GB flash drive, specifically for school. You'll be doing projects over the computer, and having an extra flash drive will come in handy.
- Have crayons/colored pencils in your bag. You'll get bored, and they do become useful :).
- Have a calculator with you, unless your math class doesn't allow them. It will definitely help you, even in classes other than math.
- If needed, get a locker shelf. It organizes helps you your stuff better, and you'll get comments on your neatness (I have experience).
- Bring a separate school bag - you'll have a lot of things to carry around with you. Plus, if you forget it or its stolen, not much would be lost.
- Carry an agenda book with you, it really helps to organize your homework.
- With mass projects, make a checklist. That way, you'll see you're progress and will be more encouraged.
- Have extra socks in your P.E. locker! It'll help.
- Have a different colour for each subject. Ex., blue for math, red for English, etc. You'll recognize the colours more easily and it'll help speed up your locker visit.
- If your school has bad clocks, bring a watch with you. You don't need to wear it, but having it is always nice.
- If accepted into AP/advanced classes, take it!
- Use lunch for studying/homework/things you want to take care of. I use my lunch to do homework and study Dutch.
- If you'd like to be an artist or a musician, take art or musical classes. Because, if you wait 'til college, you might be too late.
- Don't switch classes because you don't like your classmates.
- Study, even if it's just review. It'll help you perform better on tests, and that could help your grade a lot.
- Keep count of how many days you miss in each class, and use it!
- Knock out required classes you don't like before going for electives you do like.
- Don't step down classes, step up! At least try the harder class.
- Learn the shortest/less crowded routes to each class. Learn how to actually walk!
- Sign up for classes that you're interested in for a career first. Learn other stuff in your own time.
